Hello everyone, I’m Helen Corvis. I’m pleased to be co-authoring with Steaphan Kay on a serial fiction named In The Arms of the Void. In our first episode we meet Viper, a nightblade of the Cimmerian Ark. He’s tall, dark, and brooding, which bodes well for romance. He’s also engaged in some questionable activities with some strange people, and we hope he’s got good reasons.
But are they the right reasons? What does it take to support a space-faring civilization? And do the ends justify the means?
There is a difference between being intrinsically “good” and being “good in comparison to others”. In this story, we explore the latter, or as we prefer to frame it “evil vs. eviler”. Our main character is part of a civilization that loots, plunders, and destroys humanoid societies that they consider to be lesser. The Cimmerians even refer to others as animals in comparison to their own technologically advanced society and show no compassion in their dealings. But for them, it’s the path of survival - is it really so wrong?
